Storm Jonas: What Will You Be Doing?

“The storm is comin’, the storm is comin’!
Yes, that’s the Paul Revere–like chant that many of us have been hearing over the past few days, in preparation for Winter Storm Jonas.More than 65 million Americans in 19 states are under blizzard warnings or winter storm warnings as the storm cranks up over the South and marches toward the East Coast. Another 21 million people are under National Weather Service watches and advisories for winter weather in anticipation of Jonas’ impacts.Sir Jonas had already dumped more than a foot of snow in eastern Kentucky as of late Friday afternoon. A foot of snow was reported in western North Carolina, with a half-foot or more of snow in parts of Tennessee, upstate South Carolina, western Virginia, West Virginia and Arkansas. Thundersnow was reported in the Nashville area Friday morning with snowfall rates of an inch per hour. Even heavier snowfall rates of 2 inches per hour have been observed in Jackson, Kentucky, and Roanoke, Virginia, Friday morning. Did I miss anybody?

Looks like those of us predicted to be affected have an interesting weekend ahead of us!

With these weather conditions likely altering outdoor plans, it leaves this question unanswered for many, “Just what will I do now?”

Some will use this as an opportunity to relax or engage in a hobby – solo, or with loved ones. Others may have a movie or book fest, coupled with some snacks and libations. And then there are others who will be grinding non-stop, just as if it were another work day.

As I live the life of my dreams as a Mompreneur, my weekend will likely be a combination of the above.

I already have four business calls scheduled, have prep work for two events next week and a magazine article to write that is due on Monday.  Let’s just hope the storm doesn’t affect phone, WiFi and/or electricity service. YIKES!

If that happens it will not be a pretty scene in many homes across America. Beginning with my own!

I have a DVR filled with unwatched shows from the month, so MAYBE I’ll catch up on 2 or 3 of them. I picked up some logs for the fireplace and have a bottle of wine that a business associate gave me as a gift for the holidays. I think it just might be opened sometime on Saturday evening and my honey and I will break out the glasses. Without a doubt I will be very deserving of a break by then.

I’m looking forward to witnessing the first real snowfall of the season in my geographic area, although I am an admitted warm weather, beach girl. But, snow day or not, it won’t be a wasted day if I can help it.

I’m building a business that I love, and there is always something to do. However, I am wise enough to know that all things must be done in moderation and sprinkled with a healthy dose of self-care.

What will you be doing this weekend during the storm?
