No More Mom Guilt

MOM GUILT ON THE MOVE

You are either working long hours at your outside job, in your own business and/or in an academic program and possibly feeling like you are being torn between your “dream” life and home life.

Every now and then, that little thing called guilt starts to creep in, because you are feeling passionate about something that doesn’t involve your kids or your partner.

Shame on you!  After all, they should be your #1 priority at ALL times, correct?

Oh, that negative chatter that has the potential to derail the dreams and desires of so many Moms.

Well guess what? You are not alone.

Personally, I have been there and still occasionally get caught up in that destructive conversation.

I constantly have to remind myself, that while I am following my dreams and running my business, it will ultimately benefit my loved ones.  I remind myself that it’s a form of self-care and self-care is NOT selfish.

Happy Mom, happy home. Your family will see that you are committed, focused, and are building a foundation for something great that will benefit everyone. Encourage them to be on TEAM MOM, by demonstrating for them the old WIIFM (What’s in it for me? In this case for THEM) trick!

The next time you begin to feel guilty about being passionate about something that falls outside the realm of motherhood, family, etc., take a moment to analyze where the guilt is coming from.

You already know that you love your family to life, right? So try getting to the bottom of the guilt trap. What’s causing it?

Think back on what things you have done with and for your loved ones in the past week, month.

If you’re like most Moms, I guarantee you if you wrote these things down, that list will be around the block and back. We do and give so much more than we often want to give ourselves credit for.

WE are our worst enemy. Oftentimes, it’s not anyone other than ourselves generating the guilt. Oftentimes we are comparing our mothering skills to our own Mother, or other Moms whom we respect and believe are that fictional character, Super Mom. Stop the madness and DO YOU!

You are an AMAZING mom. Embrace that reality and stop the Mom guilt.  Yes, you CAN be a great Mom and pursue outside interests – simultaneously. Motherhood is NOT where dreams go to die.

P.S. As you know, Motherhood is the toughest job on the planet. However don’t allow that to stop you from creating a life outside of it. Do you have what it takes? Click HERE to find out!
