Empowering Our Children To Pursue Their Passions

My ultimate goal in life has been to see my children healthy and happy.

Several years ago, I ceased wanting for them, what I may have secretly wanted for myself.

I ceased being a Mom who routinely lived vicariously through my children.

I joke about wanting to be them when I grow up, because they both have been blessed with some phenomenal opportunities in their lives.

What I have done instead, is discover their gifts and encouraged them to pursue them.

Sure, we’d all love to see our children go after the career with the highest paying salaries, etc., because we want to know that they will be capable of taking care of themselves once they fly the coop.

Ideally, they will have both, financial happiness, coupled with satisfaction in what they choose to pursue.

I was faced with the decision to go to work, or to be the boss. I chose the latter and I have absolutely no regrets. Entrepreneurship is in my DNA!

I will always encourage my children to be passionate about what they choose to do in life, to be leaders not followers, and to never allow anyone to intimidate them into a place of mental, emotional or physical inferiority. No matter what.

However, first and foremost, I encourage them to choose the path that makes them the happiest.

Whether it’s what I “planned” for them or not.

At what point do we Moms, have to pull back and let our children decide what they are truly passionate about?
