THE BUCKET LIST: TWENTY-FIVE THINGS TO DO BEFORE THE CRYPT KEEPER COMES CALLING

Several weeks ago, I wrote a post called The Chronicles of The Bucket List Bartender.

In it, I shared with readers my excitement about crossing off one item from my personal bucket list – becoming a licensed bartender.

(Note: I am thrilled to share with you that two weeks ago I had my very first bartending experience! In addition, on the same night I had the opportunity to meet the one and only, Sunny Anderson! #coolpeeps)

At the conclusion of the original post, I wrote the following, “PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THIS PAGE WITHOUT SHARING AT LEAST ONE ITEM (PREFERABLY MORE THAN ONE) FROM YOUR UNIQUE AND EXCITING LIST!” Several people posted their list items on my website, however even more people sent me their lists via email and Facebook.

Coincidentally as I was preparing this post, comedian Dave Chappelle, after a long “self-imposed exile,” was sharing his show-business bucket list with GQ magazine.

“For one year, I want to do this thing where I guest-star on as many television shows as I possibly can,” Chappelle said.

“I’d be a zombie on The Walking Dead, a corpse on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and I’d be the first black guy to (sleep with) Olivia Pope on Scandal. ” says Dave.

Sorry Dave, but Norm Lewis (Senator Edison Davis) beat you to Madame Pope.

My ultimate goal was to assemble a new post that included the top 25 most exciting, funniest and most unusual bucket list items submitted to me. Hence, the title, TWENTY-FIVE THINGS TO DO BEFORE THE CRYPT KEEPER COMES CALLING!

However, I am a woman, which means I reserve the right to change my mind. Right? Below, I have provided you with ALL of the bucket list items submitted, organized by category, as I feel that they ALL were worthy to be shared.

Many, many thanks to all who contributed to my most enjoyable blog post to date!

Self, Home & Family

Have a completely organized home. One day my bedroom will mimic a Zen retreat, and my bathroom will be like living in a Xanax bottle. Shhh- Don’t tell anyone this, but I want to have breast implants, before my current ones hit my knees! Buy a HUGE piece of property with a really big farm house and have both sides of the family all live on the property. You know, like people used to do, and all have dinner together and such. A night with no kids, greet my husband at the door, wrapped in nothing but a mink coat, holding a bottle of champagne and have him not fall asleep within the first hour of arriving home from work. Get ALL of my adult kids out of my house within the next year!

Do stand up comedy for a 50+ crowd, just to make them laugh and see how it feels! Perform on stage in Vegas with Bruce Springsteen or Mick Jagger or Sting! One night performance at a high-end gentleman’s club – in another country! Be a Beyonce back up dancer.

Personal Enrichment/Dream Actualization

Write a young adult novel. Get a bartender’s license. Obtain my law degree. Become a certified masseuse. Develop the self-discipline to bake a chocolate cake and not touch it for 24 hours. Compete in a pet grooming contest and own a grooming and doggie day care business. Own a 6-figure business in 2015. Interview President Obama in 2016 and hear how he really felt about being President.

Last but not least is this submission from one of my readers: As for my bucket list I don’t have one. I read this somewhere, “I was creating my bucket list, then changed the “b” to an “f”, and I was done.”

So, are any of your bucket list items included on this list? Feel free to add yours!

LOL…I have to say that the last comment was my favorite! Hilarious and I can so relate. I have to say that I’d go with almost all of these…other than the Major League Ball Parks!

Jacqueline, There was absolutely no way I could close the post without that particular piece. Hoping the individual who submitted it will proudly claim it! 🙂

I don’t really have a bucket list but your post surely makes me think about what I would put on one. This isn’t that original but what I would add is to be able to play guitar really well. I play guitar but “really well” would not be a fit description of my prowess.

Ken, It’s never too late to sharpen those skills. I say “Go for it!” Good luck

Loved this! My list is wayyyyy too long! I can say that one item would be to fly all of the PJDIVAS to a delicious location and host a LAVISH long weekend of just being the DIVAS that we are meant to be!
